Frequently Asked Question

Answers That Make Things Clear

What is home care ?

Home care refers to any type of care (medical or non-medical) that is provided to the patient in their home. The type of care includes companionship/homemaking services, personal care services, nursing care, speech, physical or occupational therapy. These services can help maintain or improve your health and can be provided temporarily after a hospital stay, or an ongoing basis if you need continued help to adapt to an illness or injury.

Can you help if I’ve been in a car accident (ICBC)?

Yes. We are approved by ICBC to provide attendant care and homemaking services. If you’re recovering from an accident, we can support your daily routines and personal care needs so you can focus on healing.

What is ABC Home Support and how can you help?

We’re a locally owned home care provider with over 15 years of experience supporting families across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. As proud members of the BC Care Providers Association, our goal is to help seniors remain safe, comfortable, and independent at home with professional care that feels personal.

What exactly does a caregiver help with?

It depends entirely on your needs. In-home support can include personal care like bathing and dressing, help around the home, meal preparation, medication reminders, or simply having someone there for companionship. We also offer transportation services for running errands, attending appointments or simply getting out into the community.

Do you offer medical care or just companion support?

We provide both. Along with companionship and home support, our team includes Registered Care Aides, LPNs, and RNs who can assist with more complex care needs and clinical support.

Where do you provide care?

We support clients across the Lower Mainland, including Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, New Westminster, Surrey, South Surrey, White Rock, and Coquitlam.

Who are your caregivers?

We are very selective about who we hire. All of our caregivers have completed training through government-approved programs and are carefully vetted. We also focus on matching the right person to each client, because comfort and trust matter just as much as skill.

Do you support seniors with Alzheimer’s or dementia?

Yes, this is a core part of what we do. Our team is trained to provide calm, consistent support that helps maintain routine, safety, and familiarity for those living with cognitive decline.

Can you help with transportation?

Yes. We can assist with rides to appointments, errands, and outings. We can also help coordinate and accompany clients using services like HandyDART.

Do you offer short-term care after a hospital stay?

We do. Our hospital discharge support helps ease the transition home, with assistance for recovery, meals, mobility, and day-to-day needs.

How do I get started?
